Visitors will gain insights into how artificial intelligence can improve the planning, documentation, and monitoring of buildings and infrastructure. The project focuses on how image data can be used for AI applications in a legally compliant, cost-effective, and efficient manner.
Since the creation and annotation of such data is very complex, plAIdata is developing methods that enable Austrian companies to better utilize their own datasets for AI. A key focus is on generating synthetic data, for example, from 3D scenes, to automatically create training images with annotations.
This allows large datasets to be provided more cost-effectively than with purely manual data collection. At the same time, the project is exploring methods for the semi-automatic annotation of real-world image data to further reduce the effort required for labeling. Modern approaches such as vision language models and data-efficient machine learning methods are also being employed.
Participating companies include DIBIT Messtechnik GmbH, xCAD Solutions GmbH, the University of Vienna (Institute for Innovation and Digitalization in Law), and JOANNEUM RESEARCH DIGITAL, which is coordinating the project. Additionally, plAIdata is investigating legal issues related to data protection, copyright, and AI regulation and is developing guidelines for the legally compliant use of such datasets in Europe.
